The Harris United Methodist Foundation was established in 1990 under the leadership of Rev. M Stanley Bain and was created for the purpose of aiding, promoting, and developing religious, charitable, and educational activities and to make donations to qualified non-profit organizations, primarily Harris United Methodist Church. It is funded through gifts, trust memorials, and bequests of property, securities, or cash specifically designated for its use by its donors. The foundation’s Board of Directors, appointed by the Charge Conference and advised by a trust officer from the Bank of Hawaii, evaluates grant requests and oversees investments of the foundation’s assets to ensure the preservation of donated funds for future generations.

Apply for a Grant
The earnings produced by the donated funds are used for projects, programs and other priority needs of the church beyond the church’s ongoing budget. Recent grant recipients include Harris Soup Ministry, Harris Preschool, and Susannah Wesley Community Center (through Global Ministries).
The foundation currently has funds available for grants to support worthy projects of Harris’ ministries/teams/committees as well for projects related to other non-profit organizations in our community that the ministries/teams/committees may support. Preference will be given to projects whose recipients represent societal vulnerable groups. In addition, the financial need of the projects and/or recipients will be considered.
Please use the grant application form link below to print an application form for a project your Harris ministry/team/committee would like to fund or support.
