Rev. Dr. Frances Wiebenga

Rev. Dr. Fran Wiebenga was called into the ministry while at Seattle 1st UMC, when she was volunteering as a Christian Education teacher, leading a liturgical dance ensemble, and active in the music ministry.
She attended the Claremont School of Theology, and after receiving her M.Div. and D.Min. degrees served churches in California. In 2000, Rev. Fran was appointed to Hilo UMC, and then Wahiawa UMC, before retiring in 2014 to care for her husband, Walter Killough, who passed away in August 2022.
In addition to ministry in the local church, Rev. Fran is interested in retreat ministries, and was on the staff of Strength for the Journey for over 15 years, serving as dean for 3 years. She also is a lead Spiritual Director for the Walk to Emmaus.
Rev. Fran has served on the CalPac Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and continues to serve as co-chair of the Hawaii District Committee on Ordained Ministry (HCOM).
